Tocnik and Zebrak are the ruins of two castles very close to each other. Zebrak was built in the second half of 13th century by Busics. In the year 1336 the castle became the property of the King. Karel IV. rebuilt it completely into a majestic residence. Zebrak was a favourite castle of Karel's son Vaclav IV. even when he let a new castle near Zebrak - Tocnik be built. That's the reason for their very close location. Zebrak changed its owner during the Hussite wars who owned Tocnik as well. Owners were more interested in much bigger Tocnik and Zebrak started its journey to ruin.

Castle Tocnik was built probably due to the fire in castle Zebrak. King Vaclav IV. lived here for some time in the year 1398. In the year 1421 Tocnik was confiscated and then changed owners very often. In the years 1534 - 1543 it was completely rebuilt by Jan z Vartemberka, then by Lobkovics. In the year 1594 the castle became the property of the King again. During the Thirty years war it was ruined, when only the King's Palace remained and was converted into a chapel.
