The Mladec Caves (Mladecske jeskyne) is a famous archaeological area. Here the remains of Neandertals and so-called archaic moderns, modern humans Neandertal affinities or Neandertal features were found. It is one of only five places where this sort of remains was found.
Mladec caves are without exaggeration unique in the world in terms of their geological development. Caves hide in its heart the rock's underground town which admire the speleogists as well as film makers. The caves also help to heal children with diseases of the respiratory tract.
Tthe Javoricko caves complex is another one in the village of Mladec.
The Mladec Caves are situated not far from the nature reserve Litovelske pomoravi (the region around the Morava river and the town of Litovel). The arboretum is famous for the collection of rare wood species. The complex labyrinth of fissure corridors and caves can be found inside the calcite hill of Tesin. Mladec Caves with this unusual labyrinth of underground passages and domes are a natural rarity. The underground spaces are richly decorated with stalactites and stalagmites and sinter bulges at places. The most beautiful parts include the "Nature's Temple" and the "Virgin Cave".
The cave has been known for ages and is considered to be one of the extremely significant paleonthological and archaeological localities. In addition to bones of extinct Pleistocene vertebrates a number of skeletons of people of the Early Stone Age have been found there, together with multiple objects evidencing their activities (stone instruments, fireplaces).
