Podebrady is a very pleasant spa town situated in the East Bohemia. It has a nice centre with the colonnade, park and the chateau rebuilt in the Renaissance and late-Baroque styles. This town is famous as the birthplace of Jiri of Podebrady, elected as the Czech king in 1458, also known as the "Hussite king" and the first European ruler who tried to found the "peace union" of European countries.
