Description:
The history of this place goes back to the Romanesque period, when the bishop#s seat was built here. (Biskupsky Dum means The Bishop#s House). During the following centuries the seat was extended and rebuilt many times. In 1419 the court was burnt down and the walls were used for the construction of houses of Prague bourgeoisie. In the 16th century there was built a new building, the present appearance is from the 19th century. In 1999 the building was comletely reconstructed and nowadays you can find behind the empire facade both comfort and genuine remnants of the past. The hotel rooms are very tastefully furnished with period furniture and offer a unique atmosphere.
About the area:
This area is one of the most picturesque of Prague. If you decide to stay here, you will be in the historical heart of town, but in a quieter part then on the other side of the river (only the Mostecka and Karmelitska streets are a bit noisy). This area is full of small narrow streets, lovely houses, gardens and cafe bars.
